Q.What is an overhaul?

This is a comprehensive maintenance that involves completely disassembling the watch movement (internal mechanism), cleaning, drying, oiling, replacing worn parts, adjusting the precision , reassembling, and performing a final inspection (running test).
At our store, all work is carried out by nationally certified "First Class Watch Repair Technicians," who are responsible for all aspects of the process right up to the final inspection.

  • Typical processes: Full disassembly and cleaning / inspection and replacement of worn parts / oiling and assembly / rate adjustment

  • Recommended interval: 3-5 years for mechanical watches, 5-7 years for quartz watches (early intervals may be recommended depending on the usage environment)

  • Exterior finishing (polishing) is a separate process, but can be done at the same time if desired.

Q. How often should I change the battery and perform maintenance such as an overhaul?

Battery replacement (quartz)

  • The guideline is every 2 to 3 years .

  • If the second hand jumps every four seconds or the time runs slow, it is a sign that the watch needs to be replaced .

  • Do not leave the watch stopped (this can cause fluid leakage and movement failure).

Overhaul (disassembly and cleaning)

  • Mechanical (automatic/manual winding) : Recommended every 3 to 5 years .

  • Quartz : Every 5-7 years or when malfunctioning.

  • We recommend shorter cycles for chronographs, complicated mechanisms, and waterproof models .

  • It is safe to tilt forward depending on the usage environment (high temperature and humidity, sweat, seawater, strong impact, magnetic field).

If these symptoms appear, have the vehicle inspected and overhauled

  • The daily difference has increased / it suddenly stops / the power reserve is short even when wound

  • Cloudiness or condensation is visible

  • Jumping hands, calendar malfunctions , stuck buttons and crown

  • It stops immediately after replacing the battery in a quartz movement

Q. Has this watch been overhauled?

Products marked "Overhauled" or "Complete Serviced" have been overhauled. Other products are in working order and do not currently require an overhaul, so we have not performed an overhaul. We can also deliver the product after overhauling it, so please feel free to ask.

Q: The time is off...

Due to the characteristics of wristwatches, deviations of approximately one minute per month for quartz watches and approximately one minute per day for mechanical watches are within the tolerance range. Mechanical watches may also lose time if they are not wound properly. If the symptoms persist after checking the above, a mechanical malfunction may be the cause, so we will inspect your watch during maintenance.

Q. Is there any discoloration on the dial?

Many vintage items have noticeable signs of aging (stains and dirt) when they are purchased, but because we only purchase carefully selected items, we clean them to maintain the original condition as much as possible. Depending on the item, we may restore the dial to a beautiful state before delivering it to the customer.

Q. When was this watch made?

For products that do not come with a warranty card, we are unable to determine the exact purchase date. For products that come with a warranty card, you can check the purchase date printed on the warranty card. Depending on the model, it may be possible to determine the year of sale to some extent.
